Oh my gosh, Drastique are really fucking cool.
Gothic melodic black? Yes please. I've been listening to their album Pleasureligion loooaaadds. I played it through a pringles speaker whilst in the bath - this was a bad idea because it meant I spent an hour in the bath just because I was enjoying it so much xD I mean you know it's good when you can bear such shitty quality. I've clocked far too much time in the bath lately - I was sitting in there hungover for two hours last saturday ahaha, and a couple of weeks before that I fell asleep in there after an exhausting weekend of partying.

I think I might start making playlists of similar music for different moods. I'm thinking of shoving this in with some wonderful Dismal Euphony.

I got They Bleed Pixels >;D Yes, another game to play, but I want to play a non-rpg, so I figured I'd pick it up whilst it was on sale.

I've been reading Dracula: The Undead, by Dacre Stoker and Ian Holt lately. I was very lucky and managed to pick up a very very pretty hardback copy of it in the pound shop! It has no British RRP, but the US one is $27! So I feel like I got an utter steal. Also, a quick google tells me that a paperback copy on Amazon goes for £7, so I really did well for myself here.
It's pretty good - but then I have a huge boner for Vampires - of the cool kind of course. Fuck that sparkly teenage romance bollocks. Though at the moment my room has a fine layer of glitter on everything as I spray dyed my friends hair white in here last weekend, and that's actually pretty cool. It's not written amazingly, but I'm enjoying the imagery. Elizabeth Bathory though - Lesbian Vampire who is kinky as fuck and highly fetishises blood. What isn't there to love? Pahaha.

I have a pretty large list of books I need to get through, but I'm a slow reader; and although I have access to all of the ebooks I could ever want, nothing beats a physical copy. If I had a tablet things might change, but that's not happening.

Some of the books I need to read are kinda shameful. As in, I really fucking should have read these by now. When I was a kid I had read everything in the entire house, but as I entered my teenage years and got the internet that changed. Hopefully I'll get back into it ;D

Oh gosh, last night was a very successful music trawl.
Lately it seems that I spend far more time listening to new music than I do indulging in any of my other hobbies. This is most certainly not an issue - it was only this Saturday gone that I was trying to explain very very drunkly how music is the true love of my life.
But anyway, here are some of the bands that I have come across:

Elegeion -
My goodness, what a pleasure it has been to come across these. Fucking hell. I've always loved the mellower sound of Goth - Aégis is my second favourite album of all time after all - but this band have produced such a beautiful combination of Goth, Doom, with some Melodic Black touches, that it makes my skin crawl with sheer delight.
Normally I'm very fussy with my female vocals - and I would not say their vocalist is ridiculously skilled so I would not listen to her solo as I drift into slumber - but her haunting voice combined with the bands slow melancholic sound sets my soul at ease. I think I really have found a potential favourite here.

Daemonacium -
These are pretty fuckin' cool. Some Symphonic Black - so pretty easy listening for me. I mean, in past, I would have said that power is easy listening for me, and I guess it still is - especially if it borders that fine line between power and melo-death - but anyway, I'm getting distracted. These are a good band. They've only released one album unfortunately, but it is a solid album nonetheless. With a status of 'on-hold' it doesn't seem like there will be more to come, which is a shame, but I am very happy this exists. I don't think they'll ever become a favourite of mine, but they have a great sound - powerful, dark, melodic, and frantic, like symphonic-black should sound. Their songs are nice and lengthy too, which for me, is always a plus. When I choose a song I want to relish in it. That is not to say that short songs are bad, but when it comes to things like Tristania's Dementia, which is fucking glorious as it is, I'm still longing for more, so songs at 7-13 minutes are excellent.

Daemonarch -
Another time where looking into the bands I like might be helpful. They are an offshoot of Moonspell, who are fucking fantastic, so it only makes sense that these are good. They are blacker than Moonspell, who are more gothic/dark metal (whatever the fuck I'm supposed to call them, they've taken too many aspects of all sorts of genres). These also have only done one album, and I doubt it will become a favourite, as I feel the vocals are far too intrusive at times, but when in the right mood for it, I will thoroughly enjoy it.

Sobre Nocturne -
Mmm, Symphonic Doom. Very tasty. These are very peaceful sounding surprisingly, even though they are very busy for Doom Metal in terms of their drumming and some of their guitar melodies. I guess this is due to the amount of choral aspects the band use, heck, the main vocals are very soft sounding and non-intrusive. Aha it's times like these where it would be nice to know some better musical terms. Their album will be listened to by me when I wish to wind down but not chill the fuck out I expect.

Gahh, I have such a boner for choral music. I wish I knew where to go to look for it without metal influence - but you see, unfortunately I like my dark sound that accompanies Gothic sorts of metal far too much. I mean, I like some of Nox Arcana's stuff, but he has done so much stuff I don't know what to listen to of his - I don't want it to command my whole music library, his stuff if just somethign I want to listen to occasionally. I just wish I knew what the name of the choral piece that backs 'The Beginning of the End' by Theatres Des Vampires which also backs parts in Rin: Daughters of Mnemosyne, and I'm sure many other places. As much as I fucking love me some female soprano holy shit yest gimme dat deep low low male choir sexiness. Ahaha.
I think I need to see to this choral lust as soon as possible, for I hold far too much angst with my music at times as it is: looking at you Tristania. I don't need an extra ache in my musical loins (my actual loins are far from musical might I add, though I also want to add that they are most certainly a work of art *scoffs at self*).

I've not spent too much time playing vidya lately - I'd like to say that it was due to uni work, but we all know that is a huge fib. It's actually rather to do with the fact that my poor poor PS3 died a little while back and the fan on my laptop decided to conk out temporarily. Luckily, my fan has miraculously started working again (I think due to being knocked during our insanely busy house party recently xD) so at least I can get some pc gaming done (scrub style on a laptop perhaps, but it's not like I have a better alternative).

Like a large amount of gamers, I have a large library with a large amount of it pretty untouched, and yet at times I still have the nerve to claim I'm bored xD

I've just realised I haven't played Neverwinter for 3 months! Fuking hell.

Over Christmas I expect I'll get some more hours in on Terraria - not that I need to really add to the large amount of my life I've spent on that as it is ahaha - but it means I can play a game with my youngest sister - and she's an excellent construction buddy! >;D

Delicious Gothic/Melodic-Black metal

My goodness, I Ador this song at the moment (yeah yeah I'm real funny ;P So much so that my friend is face palming at me right now). All of their albums are wonderful, but I really like the album this one is off of - Symbols.

My goodness, I've had a ridiculously overwhelming weekend, and my emotions have varied massively.
I hope I only have to feel the better half of these emotions in the near future, but hey, shit happens; and I guess things have been interesting. At least there wasn't too much physical damage ahaha.

I can't wait until Wednesday, but for now, I must remain calm, or at least, much calmer than I have managed. I think it will be a few days of relaxing goth and perhaps some Valkyrie Profile OST.

Salad Fingers always makes me think of my science lessons in year 7 since that is when I first watched it.

I fucking love Mortal Kombat.

It makes me wonderfully nostalgic - I firstly played the first one on my snes, then Trilogy on PS1, and me and my brother would play Armageddon on PS2 with our own custom characters.
Me and my house-mates have been marathoning the films, old live-action series and the web-series. This was a very good idea.

During the marathon one of my house-mates put this on - I felt like a child again. I smile a fucking lot, but this made my grin widen ridiculously.

I do adore the various Mortal Kombat lores. It's the perfect level of awesome and ridiculous.

Why yes, I am back so soon.

Well, it's no surprise, that as per usual, anything slightly different is extremely exciting to me; and, due to my excitement, I lose my train of thought and get distracted, only to then come back to it later on and carry out what I initially had in mind.

As stated prior, I am not sure what direction this will blog tangent off / spiral into, but for the mean time I just wish to post some interesting things - many of which will simply be a reminder to myself of the cool things I happen upon during my internet travels.
A large amount of the content will likely be music related, since music is probably my greatest love in life (after my dear friends and family of course), and so I will be linking a lot of bands that catch my attention during my youtube and internet trawls.

I have stages of listening to loads of new music; especially when I'm doing a lot of internet browsing; and then there will be a huge dry spell (which is rather funny considering a lot of my friends would laugh and say I don't know the meaning of dry ;P). But during the monsoon, I will listen to an overwhelmingly large amount of bands, some of which I will like a little and pass by, only to later realise that I really rather liked them and have now forgotten their name. So, if you haven't guessed it already, I will be using this blog to aid my memory and its terribleness with regards to names of things.

I have a great love of vampires, so it is only right that I like to listen to terribly cheesy Vampire Gothic Metal (looking at you Theatres Des Vampires). As a result of looking for more music with Vampire lyrical themes and musical influences I stumbled upon this lovely playlist on youtube. It contains the music of bands I know and like, such as: Theatres Des Vampires, Dimmu Borgir, Moonspell, Noktunal Mortum, Siebenburgen and Cradle of Filth. It also contained many other interesting bands.
Notable examples include the following:

Lord Vampyr - Theatres Des Vampires ex-lead singers 'new' band, and I have gone years without realising this. Having a critical ear within my genres did me well; I realised upon listening to a single song that this bands vocalist sounded exactly like Theatres Des Vampires ex-singer, and I should probably check out as to why this is the case.
Music-wise, I would not call them a quality band, but I am a complete sucker for Alessandro's tortured vocals and screechy roars. The Symphonic-Black'ness' of them is satisfactory enough for me to enjoy a few songs of theirs.
Favourite song thus far: A Sad Litany of Vampires


Lamia Antitheus - these are reminiscent of older COF during their symphonic black metal days, so this really does please me. Unfortunately, although they are said to be active upon the metal-archives, all other evidence points to otherwise - only 11 people like their facebook page, their last release was in '07, as was their last official website update - which is pretty disappointing considering I am a very active member of the metal community who loves to see the bands I adore live. They don't seem to have too much music available to listen to, but to find something cool is rare for me, so I am pleased regardless.
Favourite so far: A Vampiric Romance

Blackthorn - An all female Gothic-Symphonic Metal band. Surprisingly, this doesn't excite me anywhere as much as anyone who knows me well would think it would. I guess it's because I love my beauty and the beast vocals so much and Russia is very far away to go to aquire attractive women, ehe. They are most pleasurable to listen to regardless. My favourite song of theirs however is one that the lead singer produced as a single with Dementher Grail.

Advent Sorrow - I can't remember how I happened upon these now. They lead to me discovering a very good youtube channel and thus leading me onto my Vampiric Metal excavation, but regardless, they are some very nice Symphonic Black Metal. Sadly for me, they are from Australia, and unsigned, which means my chances of seeing them is pretty slim unless something changes. Still - hope is always a good thing right?

Why hello there.

Hello there ladies and gentlemen who have happened upon my blog.
I give thee the warmest of welcomes. As you can see, this is my first post, so I hope you are sitting back comfortably in preparation for the incoming ramblings.
I haven't much of a clue as to what direction this blog will headed, but I do hope that at least it is a good one. I expect I will just be posting bits and pieces of things I like, and thoughts I feel the need to share when there is no one about to share them with.
Knowing me, I'll update this very rarely, but hopefully this will not be the case - and hope should always be more than postponed disappointment.
